Qualification Details
The HABC Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) has been accredited by the regulators of England, Wales and Northern Ireland and is part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). *The regulators are Ofqual in England, DCELLS in Wales and CCEA in Northern Ireland. It is supported by Skills for Health, the Sector Skills Council for the UK health sector.

This qualification is aimed at learners who wish for further training or to develop knowledge and/or skills in this subject area. It is recommended as training for first aiders in the workplace environment who have access to a defibrillator.Learners gaining this qualification will know that Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and
Automated External Defibrillation form an essential part of the chain of survival. The topics covered are regarded by Skills for Health as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation
Entry Guidance
There are no prerequisites for this qualification; however, HABC recommends best practice is for learners to hold a valid EFAW certificate. It is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.
This qualification is approved for delivery to the age ranges 16-18 and 19+
Qualification Structure
This qualification is made up of one mandatory unit.
Learners must successfully complete the assessment for this unit to achieve the qualification. The qualification can be taken as a free standing qualification or as part of a wider programme of training.
Assessment & Validation
This qualification is assessed through practical and oral questioning through the duration the course by the tutor. Learners must practically demonstrate the application of the correct techniques in all the areas indicated within the learning outcomes of the unit. Following the assessment, certificates for successful learners will be dispatched for distribution by the Centre Contacts. Successful learners will also receive a certificate detailing their qualification. This qualification lasts for a period of 3 years, after which point learners will need to resit the course,
however the recommendation is that learners refresh their knowledge
annually.

Key Skills
This qualification provides the opportunity for learners to develop competence in key skills and produce evidence towards attaining key skills. The qualification does not ensure key skills are met as this would depend upon learners producing a portfolio of evidence and the mode of study adopted.

A qualification that sits on the national LARA database and maybe subject to funding options for Schools, FE Colleges and Government funded work based learners attending apprenticeship programmes.

Cohort size may not exceed 12 in accordance with HSE regulation for the teaching of first aid at work purposes.
Fees per cohort to include all training, recognised manual, assessment, and certification for successful candidates at your suitable training venue. One training defibrillator per 4 candidates will be available along with a current up-to date manual on AED use and CPR protocols.
England & Wales
A typical delivery would start at 09.00 and end at 16.15 and includes breaks and assessments. Cost £650 per cohort of 12 candidates.
